There is a guitar virtuoso living in Kinburn Ontario who
frequents this notes conference, he may be able to shed
some light on your search.

| The Kinburn virtuoso does not play much rock or blues, but if you
want to learn music the likes of which you heard in the movie
Deliverance or want to some day share the stage with Gayle Gavin,
then he can help you! If he offers to do it for beer, refuse. Tell
him you'll pay cash...it'll be cheaper.

...hmmm thats coincidental Bernie, the gyst of your warning
was once given to me about you in reference to golf lessons.
Could it be that you and the Kinburnt one are related in
some way; or do you simply share in some of the more basic
philosophies of life.
Regards,
Mr. Tung Incheke

| (you could lonesome in here looking for a straight answer!)
Ottawa Folklore Centre is a good deal, it was about $30/hr for
private(!) lessons last time I checked. They also have video
instructional tapes which are good if you already have some
knowledge. Despite the 'Folklore' name, the OFC will surprise
you if you check them out. (its all folk music anyway, I've
never heard a horse sing - Louis Armstrong)
p.s.
I'd like to meet the guy in Kinburn who can drink beer AND play
guitar, that takes talent.

| and besides,
Bernie still can't play much guitar and Charlie's golf game isn't
a whole lot better so maybe the two of you should have taken up that
offer before the price went up (which was yesterday).
Pass the jar and old guitar...

| Thanks for all the witty replies! As usual, I'm cracking up
from the slapshot humor in this conference! I think I will
check out the Ottawa Folklore Center and see if they have any
tutors experienced with blues/rock. If not, I know that some
of the music stores in Ottawa have a separate studio in which
they offer lessons.

| Seriously was that really called for? Were supposed to be a civil forum
and that has 0 civility in it. I won't lock or otherwise fool with your
note but I suggest for your own protection that you reconsider it
before someone who does care takes offence.

982.10 | Sheesh | TROOA::SOLEY | Fall down, go boom | Wed Feb 21 1996 21:42 | 8 |
| replies 1 to 6 are business as usual. reply 7 is just plain rude, what
exactly is the point of atttacking someone like that in public. The
silliness is part of the valued culture here, .7 is not silliness it's
libel and it doesn't belong here. I'm not personally interested in the
Canada notes file being the straw that broke the camels back for
employee interest noting so here's the deal, I asked nice now I'm
telling. .7 is deleted, end of discussion, got a problem with that take
it up with HR.

| RE:.10 TROOA::STOOLEY
I appolagize for offending the soft at heart. It`s been awhile since
I`ve written in the notes file and I forgot certain people in there
have no idea what free speech is. You can play policeman all you want.
I will however keep myself updated on this file, and, when the
facism stops I`ll be able to speak (write) my mind FREELY.
Got a problem with that take it up with HR!!

My Gawd!!!!
What have I done????
RE: .11 TROOA::SOLEY isn't playing "policeman"! He's the
designated moderator in this conference and he's
simply enforcing conference rules that Digital has set.
I believe in free speech as much as anyone. However,
you should be able to voice your opinion without
offensive remarks.
It's a lot like driving. You have the freedom to hop in
your car whenever the hell you feel like it and go
wherever you like. Try driving on the wrong side of the
road and see how quick you get attention.

when discussing Kinburn or folk music, these are topics near and
dear to everyone's heart!
good luck finding a instructor,

myself to be lacking in culture, I've never heard of her before...

982.16 | I talked to a girl once | OTOOA::CROOK | Your Ad Here! | Thu Feb 22 1996 13:35 | 4 |
| I never got to see it. If you have to ask who it was, how do you
know it was a she? Are you like Sherlock Holmes and can identify
the scent of a woman from a deleted note? That's impressive Gary!

982.17 | Perhaps Brian Needs Some Lithium? | KAOFS::LOCKYER | | Thu Feb 22 1996 15:22 | 8 |
| Crook,
What have you been ingesting lately - your recent notes have been
strange to say the least...
Anyway, I'm no Sherlock, but applying a little stereotyping to the
name and making a little inference from the word used to describe this
person, it's easy and probably quite safe to assume it was a women...

The Lady's name is Gail Gavin, she is a marvellous singer and
is the darling of the Ottawa Valley. Anything to the contrary
is a lie and stating it would make such person a liar (imho).
I'll take some of that lithium just the same.

I would suggest that POLAR::LALUMIERE try his 'free speech'
trick in GAVAN's Hotel, Quoyon, PQ some evening and find out
how many of the 'soft at heart' give him a 'pop in the pumpkin'.

| Just to keep you up to date, Gail Gavin is playing in Brockville
on Saturday, July 13th with a band named Poutine. They are doing a
tribute of sorts to Canadian Folk Music. Later on, Murrary
Mcaughlin (I KNOW I spelt it wrong, just don't tell him) puts on
the main show. Check the locals rags for the poster advertising the
show, its at Upper Canada Village and is a family oriented day...
On Sunday, Gail is playing in Quyon at the annual "Pontiac Pride
Jamboree" which runs Saturday and Sunday in beautiful downtown
Quyon, PQ. Fun for the whole family.
(Can I start a Gail Gavin Fan Club Note somehow?)
have a nice weekend,

This conference is practically dead expect for what has become your
weekly contribution to this topic. Have you got something going with this
"rose"? Is there something that your wife should know or have you become
Gail's manager?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Bernie.

| I know its only you and I in here of late, I'm just trying to get you
to part with some of your vast fortune and support live music!
My wife is Gail's 2nd biggest fan, there is nothing she doesn't know
except for a few minor details which are of no consequence. On the
other hand, I have a picture of you at a New Years Party that I can't
even show my wife, much less yours.

| Nice try Brian but unlike you, I remember all of the New Year's
parties that I've been to, including the ones at your house (and we
all know why they're at your house ;-) )! So I KNOW that there is no
picture.
But I do support live music!

doesn't cut it as suppport live music Bernie.
Throwing a toonie might.
p.s. there is SO such a picture and you can find it very soon at a web
address near you. I will post it because now, you have made me
angry and I have to deal with it or something could be suppressed
that will come up later and haunt me.
