| Hello Lisa,
If you want to live close to KAO, try calling
Urbandale Corp. Head Office - (613) 731-6331
Kanata - Cederock Gardens - 733-4077
Kanata - Tamara Court - 592-0548
These were the only ones that listed Kanata in the yellow pages which
is where KAO is located.
Hope this helps.

789.2 | the new "pet law"? | EARRTH::GERSTENBERG | | Thu Feb 10 1994 16:06 | 14 |
|
Could anyone tell me about the new "pet law" in Canada?
I talked to a "Home Locators" and he mentioned that there is
a new law, that "they" cannot discriminate against pet owners.
Not sure who they is, I talked to a rental office, and they said,
"all I can say is that the lease says no pets". I am assuming that
if I pushed it, I could live there. Others tell me straight out
that pets are not accepted.
Any clarification would be appreciated.

| Hi,
When I signed a lease last July, with a large builder/rental company in Ottawa, the contract
clearly said "No Pets".
However, with no prompting from me, the company rep said that this clause was no longer valid,
and if I wished I could strike it out. The only remaining condition was that if neighbours complained about
the pet, "you may be asked to leave".

| Reformatted to 80 character width for those noters using character cell
terminals ...
(Those noters using windows of one sort or another, please ensure that you
don't overflow the 80 characters!)

Re .-1
Doesnt everyone have a PC? ;-)
Whats a "character cell terminal"? Seem to recall my GrandPa talking 'bout these... ;-)
Seriously though, I dont understand. Are you suggesting that if I use the Windows front-end
to Notes, and dont hit return every 80 chars, then VT-users see just one line of text, or
something equally screwy?

And to answer the question ... Yup ... messed up lines that no-one can read.
Even for those of us running notes from a DECterm, the results are the same
(I HATE the windows user interface to Notes ...)
You've gotta pretend that you are on a VT220/320/420/510 whatever. 'cause
lots of us still have to use em!

| One of the basicrule of landlord tenant law is that lots of stuff in
the lease is not actually legal. It's perfectly legal for a landlord to
say No Pets and deny rental to anyone admitting they have a pet.
However once you've moved yourself and your pet in (even if you said
you didn't have a pet) there is very little that the landlord can do,
they must demonstrate that your specific pet (and not pets as a concept)
negatively affects the enjoyment of other tenants or damages the property,
in court, very long, very messy for the landlord.
