| at this point Preston pretty much IS the party. But given time I'm
sure that the party wil gel.
the reform party started out of the wests frustation with the current
political system and it relization that the political system needed
some fundamental change.
their goals include the following
making it law that the budget is balanced
make government more responsible to the people
reduce/illiminate the deficit
abolish or reform the senate EEE
more free votes in the house
more input by the poeople on important national matters
read as binding referendums
tie immigration more closely to enemployment and at reduced levels
illimination of Quebec's "special" status
spin offs
no more federal funding of multiculturalism
taxes to be held at the current level until the debt is reduced
fed expenses will be reduced by illiminating many government
departments, streamlining others by combining duplicate
functions.

| I believe Reform hasn't spoken out on many issues yet because they haven't
yet decided on their Parliementary strategy. They're scheduled to get
together this weekend in Calgary to discuss it.
I believe BQ is slightly ahead of them in this regard, now if they could only
be more *open-minded* about their criticism of the government.

It's alot easier to form strategy when your only platform is
"Does it help Quebec-good/does it hinder Quebec-bad"
