	Hi all,
		we plan to spend about 5 weeks in Canada in this summer
	( from August, 7th ) and we've some doubt about how to travel 
	from the atlantic coast to the pacific one.

	We plan to visit two major areas, one from Toronto to New Brunswick
	and the other from Calgary to Vancouver, and we'll rent a car for 
	these tours but we'd like to cross the center without spending a lot
	of time and money.
	What's better for moving from east cost (Toronto - Montreal) to 
	west coast (Calgary - Edmonton) ????

	Do you suggest just rent a car and drive ??? Is it possible to rent a
	car in Toronto and drop it in Vancouver ?? ( we have several different
	advices to do not because it seems to be very expensive !!! )
	In this case we can think about directly rent a car for the whole 
	period ( 5 weeks ).
	By the way, it's mandatory to have the International Drivinig License
	to drive in Canada ???

	Maybe it's better to buy a Canadian Flying Pass and go by plane ??? 
	In this case do you suggest to buy this pass in Italy or is cheaper 
	/ possible to buy it in Canada ??

	And what about the bus and | or rail services ???
	Are they really cheaper ??? It worths the time it takes to cross
	these distances with bus or train ????

	Hi, If you would contemplate going by car, the train would be shorter. It's a really BIG country. I would suggest rental at either end, and the train in between. It takes 4 days of hard driving to get to Calgary from Montreal. Relax, take the train. Derek

	look into a one-way airplane ticket from Toronto or Montreal to Calgary. taking the train can also be very expensive. the Canadian or North American flying coupons are very worthwhile if you are going to be using 3 or more. Canadian Airlines and Air Canada both offer them. you must have an overseas ticket already and purchase the coupons outside of Canada. Sandra (a Canadian living in Switzerland)

	I don't know about the coupons, but I would also check out the price of an advanced booked ticket, to get these tickets you must book at least 14 days in advance, have a Saturday in between the two dates and they are non refundable but they're usually less than 1/2 the price of a one way fare so they're a deal even if you won't be using the return ticket. The bus would be absolutely torturous, and the train, though definitely the winner from the relaxing scenic point of view is getting pricey.

	Having travelled across the prairies more than a few times by car, and ONCE by bus ( I can tell you some bus stories ), I strongly recommend that you consider either the train ( fantastic scenery / rave reviews ), or the plane. "DO NOT TAKE A BUSLINE BUS", -exception: if you are just a couple, maybe a tour bus, same group of people, stops at many tourist-ee type of places. Packages usually include pretty good accomodations.
