My favourite car parts store(NOT!!!) Story(XYZ is a substitute for a famous Canadian parts/tire company). All driving is accomplished by taking my wife's car to and fro by the way. My battery died again last night so I figured I'd replace it with an XYZ store battery. Salesman tells me yessir we have a NEAREST FIT battery for you. In my joy at fixing the problem, my ears fuzzed over for a few microseconds and I distinctly heard "We have a battery for you". I go to XYZ, get the battery, return home and tada; its too wide for the battery plate. I phone XYZ sales and the salesman says.. "didn't the other guy mention that there is an optional battery plate" (I didn't even think about the top hold-down bar at that point) and gee its only $4.00. I say look for $145.00 you guys should have included the battery plate with the battery. Well sir we do have another NEAREST FIT battery here and I measured it with yours. It is just the right length and width. Okay, so I drive in and exchange the top of the line battery and get the next best thing. I put it in my car and right away spot that its too tall and the only two ways I can close the hood are: 1) Smash it down with all my might and leave the impressions of the battery posts on the hood of my Nissan Micra(FRANKENMICRA) 2) Get the XYZ hacksaw out and take off about 1 inch(not practical either, as the battery cables won't stay on very well. I phone the salesman back and say... By the way is there a note mentioning that you have to get the optional hood($450.00)? His reply was the same as my expletive when I saw the battery was too tall. So back I go and get my old battery and do all the paperwork to undo all transactions. What do you bet there'll be a major screwup on my VISA next month? Woof!

Do like I did on my wife's MICRA, cut the rod and bend it when you find out it's still not a perfect fit. You can still screw it in after it's bent. As we'd say in French "C broche foin"... /Mario

Actually, the sad thing is, every person I know who has bought a PC from Digital recently has had some sort of problem with their order. After observing this, I would never buy a car battery from Digital. Glenn

re .2 >>>As we'd say in French "C broche foin"... En Anglais on dit "McGuyverism" I got the Nissan replacement battery, which split the difference in cost between XYZ's top and bottom of the line battery and ended up doing just what you suggested. Merci beaucoup. Shawn

Actually, the XYZ company makes great tires....for dogs. Every time Wally drops by my place the dogs immediately p!ss on his XYZers. Or maybe it's just Wally they like and not the tires..hmmmm the modrocker |
