395 gives info about cars, and the AWD number.
The CDW applied for personal too.
I phoned around at the time, and found that the deal I had with Digital
and Avis was much better than anything else I could negotiate.
( and I git traded up, Avis give priority to Digital over regular
hires for trade-up)

| Thanks Heather; I can't understand how DIR/TIT=CAR didn't get me that
note ;-)
Since the rules are always changing can the locals confirm that the
free CDW still applies - AVIS in Portugal don't know their @$$ from page
4 (that must be a Canadian expression?) - when I was trying to book a van
for Florida they told me a Dodge Caravan was a motor-home - good thing I
knew something about American cars.

| We haven't received notice that free CDW was revoked ... but I
do know that for business rentals we are still told to decline
CDW ... it may be that Digital self-insures.
Beware Passenger Mini-vans are NOT a part of the Digital contract
in Canada ... they are not in the standard Car groups like they
used to be (once considered as a Full Size Stn. Wagon).

| I checked with travel.
Free CDW is not available in Canada ... Digital uses the CDW equivalent
provided by the Corporate Amex card, or self insures. For personal
rentals we can use a credit card that provides CDW.
So, it is important to check rates of other companies if your credit
cards will not provide CDW/LDW replacement. It is often hard to
beat the Avis corporate rate ... but sometimes can.

| Stuart,
The AMEX CDW I believe is only applicable if the AMEX card is issued in
the country where the rental is taking place.
I found out the hard way !!! my UK AMEX card does not offer this
facility.

| It depends on the agreement you DEC division has with AMEX. The
DEC Canada corporate AMEX does provide CDW/LDW in most geographies.
For corporate rentals where it doesn't apply, we are told to decline
anyway ... Digital will self-insure.
