It was a good game and I was happy to see Qubec win, especially
against Lindros.

| I rather thought Lindros refused to play for Quebec for financial
reasons. I agree that some sports stars are over-paid, but he did have
a valid ($) point

hockey, it was the potential endorsement contracts. How much did Wayne
get for using the metal stick?

| Some radio comentators were sayin that lindros (he doesn't deserve a
capital) did more for the Nordiques than any player they ever had,
figure six or seven players (good ones too) I think 3 or four first
draft choices and 15 millions. So far it is looking good for the
Nordiques 3 wins, no losses.

Re: .1
Well I take offence to statements like
"a province that doesn't want to stay in Canada"
Where were you during the last referendum? As I can remember, Quebec voted
60-40 against soverignty-association. This is a democracy isn't it? Majority
rules and says we don't want to leave. Quebec will remain in Canada until
there is another referendum (as if we need that now) and the vote is 50% + 1
in favor of separation.

Ben,
You should not have stopped reading after the word *referendum*, I did mention
something about a 50% + 1 requirement.
Too quick on the reply?

Mario,
I guess it just seems to me, to be inevitable that Quebec
will leave confederation. So maybe I'm being more cynical than
I should. I don't think Canada can please Quebec or vice-versa,
and I don't think it's right to have 2 sets of standards within
confederation.

An absolutely unappropriate (to be very polite) comparison/analogy.

| re: .4 is right.
Endorsements are often many times more valuable then salary, especially *after*
you stop playing. Endorsements are often a function of media coverage, market
size, hype, etc. I don't think Qubec is even close to the same league in
market pull as Toronto, Detroit, or another larger city.
Personnally I would strongly consider working in Qubec.
But Digital does not pay me $M/year, nor am I Eric Lindros.
