Hi. There is a distinct possibility that my wife will be offerred
a transfer from New York City to Toronto by her company, Citicorp.
Citicorp would pay our relocation expenses and take care of a work
permit for my wife. Does this automatically make me eligible to work
in Canada?
I'm a pss (or whatever they call it now) person. I sit out at customer
sites doing things like C programming, Oracle programming/design,
system and performance management and project leadership in VMS and
Ultrix environments. I've about 10 years experience and an M.S.
degree. Will it be hard to find a job in Toronto in or out of DEC
given my skill set? What is the Toronto job market like? Could someone
volunteer pss contacts in Toronto?
Thank you in advance,
jeff
p.s. I have read the previous notes on this topic. Please feel free to
move this to a more appropriate base note.

I do not believe that you will automatically make you eligible to
work in Canada. It doesn't if a Canadian family gets transfered to the
states.
Toronto has a fairly high unemployement rate, however proffesionals
can usually find a job. I suggest you try to pick up a Toronto Star
or Globe and Mail to look at the careers section. That would give you
some ideas about jobs and the cost of living and housing prices.
I'am affraid I can't be more specific because I don't live there.
