557.0. "HOST FAMILY AUGUST" by EVOAI2::ARBARET () Tue Mar 24 1992 10:48

         Hello!

My son, 17 years old would like to spend his summer holydays
in CANADA. He would appreciate to live within a family in the
         forest, moutains ou lake area.

He is a very sportive boy :

skiing, climbing, riding a bike, sailing, swimming, diving,

He does'nt smoke. He likes nature, photography, fishing. He
has been for 4 years boy scout!

He is in an high school in the ALPS (boarding school).

This trip could be an exchange with other boy who could come
over here (Paris area) this year or later or my son could
give help in a farm or other...

If you have friends or relative let them know about my
         request.

         Thank you in advance.

    Just a few questions.

I have relatives in Quebec. Some live in the cities, some in the
country. The relatives who live in the country may or may not have
    room. (I don't know yet. I haven't asked.)

    		1. What would be their responsibility to your son?

    		2. Expectations from both sides. (What if they don't get
    along? What happens then?)

    		3. They may not be able to send him anywhere. Is he ok with
    staying put during his stay?

    		4. What kind of a kid is he?

I know some of these questions are ?????? But I have a 15 yrs old
who is interested in going to Canada or France for the summer also. So,
how would you feel about taking him. I'll start asking my relative how
they feel. Don't get your hopes up too soon. I never know how my
relatives are going to react. :^)

    					Richard.

    Hello Richard,

Thanks for your answer. I will try to answer you as well as I can.

"1. What would be their responsibility to your son?"

My son is a minor and , of course I will write a letter about the
no responsability for the guest family.

"2. Expectations from both sides. (What if they don't get
        along? What happens then?)"

It depends in which conditions he will be received ( exchange or
    other..)

"3. They may not be able to send him anywhere. Is he ok with
      staying put during his stay?"

Do you mean travel? or just move around durint day time?
Moving around during day time : of course but not long trip away
     for along.

"4. What kind of a kid is he?"

He is very "sociable". He is not shy at all but reserved.
He has a french traditionnal education. For 3 years, he was in a
private catholic school. He is helpful and smart. He knows cooking
a little bit. He knows how to manage himself...He likes rock music too.
He is tall (1,85) blond hair and blue eyes!!

Now about your son. I would be on vacation 2 weeks in August and I am
planning to spend them on the French Riviera in a family house
(seaside) . But if my son is in CANADA your son will be without
friend except with my other son (13 years old).

For more detail questions you can send me a vaxmail EVOAI2::ARBARET
