530.1 | Here's a wild guess... | VAOU02::BOTMAN | Pieter Botman - Vancouver EIS | Thu Dec 05 1991 23:13 | 12 |
| This is just a guess, not an explanation...
I have seen very few postings on our notice board, and of the ones
that are posted many do not cover relocation, even though they are
for in Kanata, and elsewhere.
Another factor might be that with a "managable" number of offices,
people simply expect hard-copy postings to get the job done.
Take that for what it's worth...
The guess of an uninformed neophyte.

530.2 | Good Question! | BRADOR::DAVY | | Thu Dec 12 1991 15:00 | 11 |
| Good Question! Perhaps if you sent an EMAIL Message to Doug Tansley at
MTS$::"KAO::DOUG TANSLEY" or Kathrine Payne at
MTS$::"KAO::KATHRINE PAYNE" and ask them, the inquiry might bring a
logical and intelligent reply. Who knows, your prompting might
make the personel folks aware of the need!
Good Luck.....

530.3 | What's New?? | KYOA::DUNAIEF | Moon Dancer | Thu Apr 02 1992 19:45 | 5 |
| Has there been an answer to this question?? I am also interested in
the Canadian job postings, but I don't live in Canada, and I'm not on
any mailing lists.

| re -1, ditto.
Also, could some helpful soul provide details on visa/permit requirements
to work in Canada?
Considering the DEC events of recent months, do the personnel names supplied
earlier in this note, still apply?
Any info muchly appreciated.

530.5 | Job cuts... | VAOU09::BOTMAN | pieter | Mon Nov 09 1992 16:34 | 13 |
| I think visa and immigration requirements are covered elsewhere.
Jobs? I'm sure you read in Digital Review about 22,000 jobs cut
worldwide. Well, some days after that, Ken Copeland (Subsidiary
Manager, Digital Equipment of Canada Ltd CEO) sent out a memo
announcing cuts of 230 in Canada. Cuts to be at least recommended (if
not made) by Dec 1, if I read it correctly.
Don't expect too many jobs, on VTX or elsewhere...

| I don't know whether Canada issues non-immigrant work visas like
the USA, although may now do so in the light of free trade. The
best thing to do is ask your nearest Canadian consular office.
Usually for Canadian visas of any kind, you apply to the local
consular office. There rarely is any need to contact an immigration
lawyer and when there is you will usually know or be told to.
