428.0. "Winnipeg and the rest of Manitoba" by COVERT::COVERT (John R. Covert) Tue Apr 09 1991 00:01

My goodness. No topic on Winnipeg. No topic on Manitoba. How quaint!

What I'd like to know about today are Pizza Delivery places in the downtown
area. I got two from Directory Assistance:

	Gondola 786-6097
	Juliana 774-7549

Are there any Winnipeg readers who can comment on the quality of these
two places? Will Gondola deliver on the Grand Canal?

Planning ahead for July, when I'll be in downtown Winnipeg for about an
hour.

All Winnipeg addresses are located at the intersection of Portage and
Main. Other than that, there is not much to say about Manitoba.

    Let's talk about Sarnia instead.

Brother Doug the Slug prolly knows about Pizza in Sarnia.

Winnipeg used to be called Sarnia ... about a year or so ago someone
noticed that two minor centers had the same name - it was uncovered by
a graduate student from the University of Sarnia (no the Sarnia out
west). He tracked down why everyone in Sarnia were receiving free pizza -
you know 30 min. or its free. Turns out the delivery folks were driving
to Sarnia in the other province ..

So that's how Winnipeg got its name ...

    Well, there you go !

I didn't know Winnipeg had a name, up until five minutes ago ...

And if my train is late enough, the Sarnia folks could probably get a pizza
to Winnipeg within 30 minutes.

This may be a possibility in 1992 when the locks from Lake Superior to
the Grand Canal are completed, then its just a hop, skip, and a short
swim to Winnipeg .. but with the cool wind off the lake the pizza will
    get cold !

Does anyone from the Winnipeg office read this notes file? I am looking
for someone within DEC that could help me occasionally contact my
parents, who live in Winnipeg, during office hours.

You can reach me at DTN 621-4848, or VAXmail at KAOA12::SMELLIE, or
at SMELLIE @ KAO in A1 mail.

Where do they live, during non-office hours? :-)

During non-office hours they live in St. Boniface. My grammar used to
live in Winnipeg, but not anymore. :-)
