419.0. "Lake Morency/St. Hippolyte" by DPE::STARR (SRV......I can't believe you're gone....) Thu Mar 07 1991 11:01

I'm planning on taking a week's vacation up at a timesharing condo a little
north of Montreal. The town is called St. Hippolyte, and its right on Lake
Morency.

I searched through this notesfile and couldn't find any reference to either of
these areas. I figure I'll be going into Montreal for some of the nightlife
(and with any luck catch a Montreal Canadiens playoff game!) But I'll probalby
spend a couple days in St. Hippolyte also. Anyone familiar with this area, and
make any recommendations on anything to do or see??? (A good rockin' nighclub,
or good restaurant I should try, etc.)

(BTW, I'm heading up the weekend of April 13, if that makes any difference.)

thanx,
alan

Hi Glenn,

> Check out the Grand Canal at Merd D'Ormstown.

I'm checking out a map (its not real detailed), and I see a town called
Ormstown a little bit southwest of Montreal - is that where the Grand
Canal is located?

thanx,
alan

    Alan,

You should know me better than that. ;-)

If I were you, I'd stick around the Laurentians (Laurentides). The
are lots of nice twons like St. Agathe, St. Adele and further south St.
Jerme. I don't know of any hot spots in specific but in these small
towns the hot spots are generally obvious. Ask around, the locals will
be more than happy to tell you were the best places are. And yes you
can always find someone who speaks English, even up there.

If you're going into town for a Habs game, go early and go for Ribs
at the Bar-B-Barn which is, I believe, on St. Marc south of St.
Catherines street.(or is it on Guy?) For the best smoked meet IMHO go to
Shwartz's on St.Laurent. My favourite Pizza spot is a place called Elio's
which is on Bellechasse which is a left turn off St. Denis going North.

Have fun and if you see Nostradamus say hi!

Yo! Glenn,

> You should know me better than that. ;-)

agagagaga! Yeah, I shoulda! 8^)

Thaks for the advice on the local areas - we'll probably just end up winging
it (which is fine by me - more fun!).

I'd love to see a Habs game, no doubt. Depends upon the playoff schedule, and
how much a playoff ticket will actually run me (my life savings? my first-born
child?). But it certainly would be great to see a game in the Forum, no doubt!
