387.0. "KANATA INFO NEEDED" by WFOV11::NOLL () Wed Dec 12 1990 13:32

    Hi folks!

I work in the Westfield facility here in Massachusetts. I am
considering the possibility of relocating to the the Kanata plant if
there are any future openings. I have some questions, however, I was
hoping any of you folks could answer for me....

What is required to bring horses and cats into your country?
What is required for a U.S. citizen to purchase property in
                   your country?
What is the time limit on a work permit?
How does one re-apply if you intend to continue to stay
                 beyond your time limit?
Any information regarding the horse industry in your area...
desirable towns outside of the city limits that would be
appropriate for horses yet commutable to the Kanata plant...
               veterinarians recommended in your area
horse feeds in your area (is Blue Seal in Canada?)

Any information at all that might give me a clearer picture
on what may be involved to make such a move.

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

>>>What is required to bring horses and cats into your country?

Check with the Canadian Customs and Immigration folks or the
Canadian Consel-General.

>>>What is required for a U.S. citizen to purchase property in
                   your country?

Just so long as you have money (or a the ability to borrow money)

>>>What is the time limit on a work permit?

May be a problem since Canada has high unemployment.

>>>desirable towns outside of the city limits that would be
appropriate for horses yet commutable to the Kanata plant...

Gloucester or Orleans has areas where the city folks keep horses.

>>>(is Blue Seal in Canada?)

for your horse or your family? Human medical needs are borne by
the provincial government. THere are supplimental medical plans
availiable. My folks are on Blue Cross/Blue Shield supplimental
(I'll ask next time I talk to them).

>>>Any information at all that might give me a clearer picture
on what may be involved to make such a move.

Usually, DEC in Canada does not have the same benefits as in the
states. Be sure that your relocation funds includes in the move
to Canada.
