| Is there a "list" of Canadian universities/companies that a DEC employee
can reach thru mail? And how can one do it?
Thanks,
Alan

| Hi,
Yes, if it is on the BITNET, but you have to know the mail stop.
BITNET connected to all universities around the world.
The address format is something like decpa::"BITNET address"
or nm%decwl::"BITNET address".
Don't ask me more, I just know it by try and error.

| There is an entire conference for discussing this: UPSAR::GATEWAYS

| <<Could someone tell me what is "csd" and "ca" mean?
cs.uwo.ca is like a postal address but in this case it is probably
the department at UWO followed by the country code, 'ca' is Canada.
So, the entire phrase may mean:
Computer Science Department (csd), University of Western Ontario
(uwo), Canada (ca).
There is a gateways publication available over the network that will give
you some valuable information on accessing other networks. This publication
is available as an on-line text file or in Postscript format:
DECWRL::"GATEWAY.DOC" on-line
DECWRL::"GATEWAY.PS" Postscript
I agree with John Covert that it is also a wise move to access the GATEWAYS
VAXnotes conference.

| You can't get there because HKTST1 doesn't have UPSAR in the node database.
Get your system manager to load a complete node database.
>Franky_li::HKTST1
That goes the other way around...

I am scare to brother my system manager, is that true if you have
the enet node number, you still can reach that node without knowing
the logical name, so it doesn,t matter whether the database has
it ? And if possible, could you mail that enet number to me by
VAXmail. Thanks. :->
