Hello, we are two students, who want to gain pratical experience in a foreign country as co op students. DEC Germany don't help us anyway (only a few adresses in UK) to contact someone in foreign countries. So, if someone could give us an pointer, name or/and adress, which we could contact, this would be great. (BTW, one of us currently works as a co op student at DEC Frankfurt (Germany), our activities include system management, performance management, design and programming of GUI's) Thanks a lot, Juergen

I don't know how the co-op program works in Canada, but suspect that since the U.S. and Canadian university systems are very similar, the co-op program is also probably the same. In the U.S., to be eligible to work as a co-op, you must be enrolled in a co-op program at a university. Companies interested in hiring co-ops go to the university and interview students, who are then hired, for a single term, to work on-site. At the end of the term, the students return to the university for the next term. The program is slightly different at each university (since some universities divide the year into quarters and others divide the year into semesters). This is very different from the AZUBI program in Germany. I fear there is no mechanism available to allow you to work in either the U.S. or Canada. /john | |||||

Actually, there is a chance in Canada - but transportation and living costs/arrangements are up to you, if not from one of the places DEC Canada deals with. I've forwarded your note to a few people in Toronto. Scooter |
