351.0. "Cricket in Toronto" by TROU03::BRAY (Searcher of wisdom -- finder of none) Wed Sep 12 1990 15:13
Last year, on Sunday, November 5, over 40,000 people flocked to Toronto's
SkyDome to watch the world's first ever indoor international cricket match.
This resulted in over $550,000 being raised for the United Way. Among
those present was a contingent of 34 DECies, mainly from the TRO office.
We christened this event "DECricket".
Well, because of the incredible success of last year's event, it is being
repeated on Sunday, November 4, 1990, and once again I am organizing an
unofficial DECtrip to the game!
If you are interested in coming to see this spectacle (if last year's game
is anything to compare with, it WILL be a spectacle!) please contact me.
It is NOT, as I said, an official DEC event, so anybody can attend; the
only prerequisites for coming are:
o You enjoy cricket, or
o You would like to see the SkyDome, or
o You like the idea of a fun Sunday away from the wife / kids
/ decorating / etc..., or
o Any other excuse you can think of!!
So far I have approximately 40 people interested in the game, mainly from
TRO, but some from as far away as Boston, MA. If I can get a party of at
least 50 together then there is a discount on the tickets; the price of
tickets is $15.50, $25.50 and $30.50 without discount (plus service charge
of approx. $2.75.) Last year we bought the $25.50 tickets and had superb
seats on the front row of the second level.
If you are interested, either post a reply here, call me on DTN 631-7319,
or mail me at TROU03::BRAY (VMS Mail) or Peter Bray @TRO (for ALL-IN-1).
Look forward to hearing from you!

Does that have something to do with our wobbly performance on the stock
market lately?

Ah, but you're being inconsistent there, John! Tell me, do you use DECcalc

| The numbers wanting to attend DECricket continue to swell -- we now have
approximately 60 people who will be going; this means we qualify for a
discount for group purchase.
However, I cannot put off buying the tickets much longer! I will be
booking the tickets on the morning of Friday, September 28. If you want to
attend the game, contact me by this Thursday -- LATEST!! Anybody who
contacts me after that will have to take pot-luck with seats.
Contact me on: DTN 631-7319,

I must admit I'm STUMPed for a reply to that, but I often RUN OUT of ideas
these days; must be too many LEG GLANCEs at the secretaries in TRO!
By the way, did you hear about the man from Sarnia who came to the game
last year? He found two cricket balls lying outside the SkyDome, and
rushed inside hoping to see the game ....
.... but all he found was a small insect in a lot of pain!!
