224.0. "kid's collecting club" by LYRIC::QUIRIY (Christine) Fri Sep 01 1989 17:44

    I have posted this in several conferences:

    MOMAX1::ANTIQUE_COLLECTIBLE, TERZA::PARENTING,
    NODEMO::STAMPS_N_COINS, and most of the regional and country
    conferences.

    ----------

    I have a young friend who collects postcards. I send her
    postcards whenever I happen to be somewhere different and she's
    also gotten a few postcards from someone on the net whom I
    occasionally provide with matchbooks, and she really likes getting
    the cards. I've got a young neice who collects stamps, and I've
    gotten stamps from other countries from kind people on the net.
    Do any of you have kids who are collecting (light-weight) stuff
    like this? Stuff that can be sent through local mail relatively
    cheaply? Do you think they'd like to have their name put on a
    "trading list", a list of names and addresses of other kids, from
    all over, and the item they're collecting? I'm volunteering to
    make up and maintain the list and distribute it to whoever wants
    it.

    If anyone shows any interest in this, I'll probably ask, when the
    first list is distributed, that everyone send something to someone
    else (I'll pair them up) -- that way, each kid will get something
    from somewhere different right away. (I could also do that, if
    the need arises, when a kid is sending stuff but getting
    discouraged because (s)he's not getting stuff back.)

    Is there any interest?

    It's probably best, if you're interested, to send me MAIL, rather
    than fill this note up with responses-that-are-addresses. I'm
    not a regular reader of this conference, though I will check in
    every now and again.
