| I can't comment on any of these restaurants, but they are listed
in Goodlife's Tastes of Toronto (1988 edition). The first is downtown,
the rest are in the east end of Metro. There are undoubtedly more,
but that's all I have listed.

183.2 | Thai maybe? | TRCA01::OBRIEN | Glenn O'Brien @TRC 18/6 | Tue May 23 1989 15:43 | 4 |
| If you like Thai food, there is a good restaurant near our dowtown
office. It's called Bangkok Gardens and is highly recommended.
It's located at 18 Elm St. (between Yonge and Bay). The phone number
is 977-6748 and you should reserve.

| My favourite is the Moghal at 33 Elm Street. There are three others,
but I like this location the best. Whenever I try another Indian
restaurant in Toronto, I regret not having gone there. I hear
Woodlands at 177 College Street (there is another one now at 456
Bloor St. W.) is excellent. I'm going to try that next time I don't
go to the Moghal.

| There is yet another Mugal (Moghal?) in Markham just north of Steeles
on Warden. My favourite is the one on Bloor, just east of Bathurst.
For the visitor to T.O. : There is a whole area of Indian shops and
restaurants in Toronto on Gerrard St. I think its called India Town or
Little India or something like that. While places like the Moghal cater
more the Western palate, Gerrard street is more like what things
might be in India - the atmosphere is less formal and the food more
spicey etc.
I think there is also a similar India Town in around Malton or
Brampton. Maybe others know more about that.

183.6 | Woodlands Restaurant | TROA02::BRAY | Food, glorious food .... | Tue Jun 06 1989 16:22 | 15 |
| Re: 183.4
My wife and I went to the Woodlands Restaurant at 456 Bloor St. West about
a month ago. It really is very good. It's moderately priced (maximum $8
to $10 per entree), and there is a good selection of both meat dishes and
vegetarian dishes (the Thali Platter at about $7.50 is excellent, and is
enough for one normal sized appetite). Also, their Paper Masala must be
one of the longest dishes I've ever seen in a restaurant - it overlaps
both ends of your plate!
Don't expect plush surroundings there; the tables and chairs are fairly
spartan, but the quality of the food more than makes up for that. My
wife and I really pigged out and still spent less than $35.
