| I guess since i started this topic, i should start it off..
Well i have camped mostly in Ontario Provincial Parks,
to name a few; Algonquin Park, Sharbot Lake, Murphys Point,
Bon Echo Park...The list goes on. All the parks i have stayed
at were beautiful..lots of trails for the hiker and great swimming,
with great beaches..and privacy.
When we were at Algonquin Park a year ago, a moose walked 3 feet
away from our tent (during the night).. all we saw the next day
were 6 inch dia. hoof prints..now were else can you get that close
to nature...
We also stayed at Cape Breton National Park, on the Cabot Trail
in Nova Scotia. Beautiful park, great trails, good fishing,
unbelievable scenery..Its worth the distance..

| I hate wildlife! Once I camped at Falcon Lake (just inside Manitoba border),
and a 5am the bears come to have a quick and early breakfast.
scrufff-scrff-bang-bang-snifff! I cannot get back to sleep and usually head
back to the car. Motorcycles leave you no escape at all! I vote for Motels.
Actually I have not found bears in Ontario along Higway 17, except near
Kenora. The provincial parks on the North shore of Superior are particularly
beatiful, and I try to repress my urge to Motel there....

| As an ex-summer-employee of the Ontario Provincial parks I think
I should put a plug in for my old "alma matar"..... The Long Sault
Parkway, long Sault, Ontario. This is a parkway surrounded by water
when the area was flooded to help make the St. Lawrence Seaway.
There are 4 campsites (used to more but they closed some down to
lack of use I think) and 2 beaches. Long Sault is just west of
Cornwall, Ontario and is about 45 minutes from the Quebec border.
The parkway is usually packed with weekend campers and the beaches
are especially busy, it seems that everyone in Montreal comes down.
The area is quite nice with lots of water and walking trails.
In fact I meet my wife there, she was camping and I was attending
the gate. ....... What a great story for the kids eh!

Long Sault is really nice. As to why it's packed with Montrealers......
well because it's clean and there aren't too many beaches that can
claim that distinction in Quebec at least not while I was living
there. I'm a Quebecer and I love Quebec even though I'm living in
Ireland at the moment. But when I was a kid I spent many fun weekends
at Long Sault. Great place.
But tell me Mr. Atkinson why do you meet your wife there? What's
wrong with home?

| I'm from Cornwall, Ontario and worked out at the parks in Long Sault
during the summers. My wife is from Montreal, Quebec. She and some
girlfriends were camping had come down from Montreal to camp so
being a good red-blooded Canadian boy, I rounded up some of my buddies
and we "invaded" their campsite. We all had a great time and the
boys from "the wall" were then invited to Montreal for a weekend,
etc , etc, etc. And the rest is history as they say, we now live
in Geneva,Switzerland.

| I'm mostly an 'Ontario Camper' but...
I agree with .1 - camping in Cape Breton, just off the Cabot Trail,
is one of the BEST spots I've ever been!

| Le parc de la mauricie, near Shawinigan, Qu�bec. Nice campsites,
canoe rentals at a couple of spots, wilderness camping too and super
beaches.

| I have stayed in Ontario twice. Once in a hotel and once camping in
Wheatley Provincial Park. My family and I enjoyed the camping there
so much were planing another Canada camping vacation for this summer.
What I'm looking for is input on the other parks and campgrounds along
Lake Erie. (ie. rates, and which ones highly recomended.)
