160.0. "Toronto Restaurants" by TRCO01::OBRIEN (Glenn O'Brien @TRC 18/6) Fri Mar 17 1989 11:46

    Since we have so many people asking about what to see and do in
    Toronto, and that so many Toronto employees have moved here recently,
    I think we need a directory for Toronto restaurants. When giving
    a review of your favourite, include the address, the cost for a
    dinner with two, and any specialties they have. Please title your
    reply with the name of the restaurant, thus making searches for
    a particular restaurant easy.

160.1Filet mignon for about $12MQOFS::DESROSIERSLets procrastinate....tomorrowFri Mar 17 1989 15:456
    I like the filet mignon at Lindy's on the Yonge strip (near Eaton
    centre), good and cheap. The meat is first class, but the vegetables
    are third rate.

    Seeing by the number of responses for good restaurants in TO, i
    thought i would mention my favorite spot to eat whenever i'm
    in hogs town. My favorite is McDonalds's.

    Try McDonald's, it is always one of the better ones. Their are clean,
    cheap (very important these days), food is tasty, served with a smile,
    and even give you a little sovenier for the little one.

160.3Don Quijote on College West of SpadinaTRCO01::SANDHUFri Apr 07 1989 13:219
    I good one that I enjoy (especially when I came back from Mexico)
    is Don Quijote on College just west of Spadina. The food is quite
    good, but the best part is the show upstairs. The show starts out
    a band that covers music from just about the whole Spanish world.
    Very lively and fun. Later on, they hav the fleminco dancers come
    on. It is something else to see these dancers, they come up to the
    tables and taunt and tease the audience.

    I recommend this restaurant especially to people from out of town.

    Is anyone familiar with the Cultures restaurant chain? What kinds of
    places are they?

    I have read that Brian Orser owns two Cultures restaurants in Toronto.
    Does anyone know where those are located? I've been told one of them
    is near the Ontario Science Center.

    Culture's specialty is salads of all varieties. They also have great
    muffins, coffee, juices, sandwiches, etc. As for a location near
    the Science Center, I don't know that part of town, but they are
    very numerous throughout Toronto and other parts of Ontario.

160.6Great review bookTRCA03::OBRIENGlenn O'Brien @TRC 18/6Thu Aug 10 1989 14:405
    I picked up a book called the Litt Report. It has listings on all
    major cities in Canada. The ratings are fairly accurate and pull
    no punches. I was recently in Vancouver, and again it was accurate.
    If I remember to bring it in, I type in the ratings, but not the
    comments.

    RE: Cultures

    We came, we saw, we consumed. We found the two Brian Orser Cultures
    restaurants in the Don Mills Centre (Don Mills Ave. and Lawrence St.) and
    in the Victoria Business Centre on Victoria Park Ave. The Don Mills
    place is a small stall in the Food Court section. The Victoria place
    looks much larger and more interesting, like a real restaurant.

    My wife had a decent salad at the "store" in the Don Mills Centre.
    I had Chinese, and the kids had pizza. Aren't Food Courts great?
