148.0. " QUEBEC / ONTARIO = Big freeze" by JGO::DAVIES () Thu Jan 26 1989 07:26

    Dear Canukks,
I'll be spending a couple of weeks in Ontario/Quebec
and I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on skiing in
that part of the world. I plan on doing a little at Mt Tremblent
(spelling?), plus maybe A.N.OTHER. Here's hopeing this crazy Brit
gets some replies by the end of Jan!.

    P.S. Is it really -30 !!!.

Leigh:

Don't worry about the -30C heat wave, it should cool off by the
time you arrive. To give you some assistance, it would be helpful if you
could indicate where you will be located, for how long and if you will
have a car.

Have you ever driven in Montral during a snow storm? You may be
in for a treat. Oh, yes - two minor points; it's Mont Tremblant and Canucks.
As you indicated that you're a Brit and judging by your last name, possibly
Welsh, what does 'Llamedos' mean?

If you can possibly afford the time, do travel to Ottawa during 3-12
February to take part in the largest winter carnival in North America,
Winterlude. You can skate (skates are available for hire) on the Rideau
Canal (8Km long) and partake in such typical Canadian culinary delights as
beaver tail, poutine, maple fudge or drink concoctions called 'caribou',
and 'moose milk'. Or, you can view the ice sculptures, horse and motorcycle
races on ice (probably the only place in the world where you'll see horses
racing motorcycles), barrel jumping and people throwing up. You may even
get the opportunity to see our Prime Mover, the Right Horrible Brian Baloney
before he becomes an American citizen.

So, if you can provide a bit more information, then I can provide
a bit more information.

    Leigh,

Please pay little attention to Tap Rushton, alias Pat Rushton.
It is common knowledge that he is, in fact, a loonie! When you get
over here, you'll find out that there are millions of loonies most
of which jingle about in pockets so, BEWARE.

Have fun skiing and watching the motorcycle horsmen races....

RE: .1 ("Tap")

Where did you get this?? - ...what does 'Llamedos' mean?
                                          ^^^^^^^^
Sorry, Leigh, can't help you from here in Taxachusetts, where it was
a balmy 66 (F) yesterday... there goes the ice fishing. But in typical
New England tradition, it's supposed to snow/sleet/&freezing rain today
and tonight. Oh, well.

Anyway, have fun in Canuckland!

Thanks,

Kip

Reverse the order of the letters and say it with any Brit accent -
be careful not to say it in polite circles!
