1303.0. "Outbound utilization > 100 %" by MLNCSC::PIOVESAN () Wed May 07 1997 07:44
Hi all,
Statistics on a DECbrouter 90 interface (serial port) sometimes show
outbound utilization > 100% (e.g. 130-140%) (using DECmcc V1.4).
This behaviour happened with V10.2 or 10.3, old brouters using V9.14
don't show this problem.
The line speed (64000) is set correctly.
In order to double check, we also collected data about XMITED
OCTETS and then calculated line utilization by hand ((Xmited
octets*8)/(64000*t));
the result is the same as the outbound utilization shown by DECmcc.
So the wrong value seems to be the number of octets.
Is this a known problem? Nothing is changed on DECmcc side so it seems
a Cisco software problem.
The customer need to solve the problem because they want to
continuosly monitor line utilization.
Thanks for helping,
Italo
