1288.0. "Supported Versions and Prior Versions ?" by COMICS::WEIR (John Weir, UK Country Support) Tue Apr 01 1997 11:24
Hi,
I am interested in knowing what versions of software are/should
be supported on the DECbrouter.
I suspect that different Countries are doing different things, so
I would be interested to know what is actually being done in
different Countries, as well as what is the official Engineering
position.
In particular, I am interested in the implications for Prior Version
Support contracts. This effectively creates three or perhaps four
categories:
a) The "current" version(s) according to Engineering -- ie those for
which Engineering will accept IPMTs.
b) The "current" version(s) according to MCS -- ie those versions
which are covered under DSS, BSS (etc) contracts by MCS.
c) The "prior" version(s) -- ie extending the support life of
category 'b' for perhaps one more year after expiry of DSS cover.
d) So old that there is no standard support contract ...
Please will readers of this conference provide some advice, or even
comments on what they are doing?
Thanks very much,
John Weir, UK Country Support
