934.0. "URGENT HELP IBM SOFTWARE QUESTIONS!!!!!!!" by SHOGUN::SKOWYRA () Thu Mar 13 1997 12:12

I have a customer issue here which could bring into my group alot of
out revenue. My customer is an IBM house which makes their own software
to be used on the following IBM platforms:

                        AS400
                        RISC 6000 AIX
                        MVS

The customer currently submits mulitple tapes with their software to
the end users. His reuqest for me is to consolidate the tapes onto
different media types. This will reduce the amount of tape sent to the
    customer and save money.

I have no problem with consolidating VMS,Ultrix,Unix tapes, but have no
clue about the above mentioned platforms.

I have several questions that need to be answered quickly and would
greatly appreciate any help. If there is a consulting group out there
Im sure if you can help we will pay...Here are some of my questions.

    * What type of software is used to crate IBM installtion kits?
           As400
           AIX RS6000 (Unix)
           MVS

Is it a standard tool or home grown?

    * Is the installtion software consistent between platforms?

    * Can software kits be shared accross platforms?

    * Is each software kits unique to a specific platform (MVS cannot be
    installed on as400)?

    * Is there one plaftform where I could read/create teh consolidated
tapes or would I need 3 sperate systems for consolidations?

Any help is appreciated or a pointer to help is needed.
This customer is a rather large company and we currently
do work for one division and would love to have the
                   rest of the pie!!!

                           Help!!!! Thanks...John Skowyra.....
