Hi, Some DECnet /security questions - 1. What DECnet Object does ACMS need and use in a distributed environment ? 2. Why Does it use DECnet task 0 for some network work ? For security reason a customer would like to disable this DECnet task but then it will mean that he will have problem using the ACMS, wouldn't he ? Can it be overcome ? Thank's - Amir Klein (Digital - Israel - SSDU)

ACMS uses OBJ_49 as the initial object for the ACC connection. A local ACC connects to a remote ACC via OBJ_49 for GET_PROCEDURE_INFO call. ACMS does not use the TASK 0 object as far as I know. On our systems the TASK 0 object is disabled. Instead ACMS uses task-to-task communications, connecting from a known process on the front end to a known process on the remote system. Bill |
