4105.0. "Problem with ACMS 4.1 installation" by CSC32::E_VAETH (Suffering from temporary brain cramp, stay tuned) Mon Feb 24 1997 18:41

OpenVMS VAX 6.1
Installing ACMS development kit 4.1 (was at 3.3b)

We have a customer who is running into many problems installing ACMS 4.1. We
have managed to get him as far as the IVP. The IVP is failing with the
following errors ( as dictated by him):

%acmsddu-e-dupdev, device name already exists in the database
%acmsudu-e-dupuser, username already exists in the database
%acmsudu-e-dupuser, username already exists in the database

The swlup said he was out of bytlm for the ACMS$IVP account. He bumped that but
he still has the same IVP problems.

Any and all hints will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Elin
(who can spell ACMS 2 times out of 3:))

They may have their system set up in a non-standard way. The
IVP creates a log file that should show you where the problem
is. The ACMS$IVP account is created as part of the running
of the IVP. If the DEFAULT SYSUAF record has lower quotas
and the account setup does not explicitly set them, this could
    	result in errors..

Or, you could just skip the IVP and just try using ACMS.

The customer's system account had the DCL commands DELETE and PURGE defined with
the /CONFIRM qualifier. Each time the procedure was deleting/purging, the
customer was reponding 'N'. We changed the symbols and the IVP ran fine.

Thanks,

Elin

If this happened during the installation, then there's a problem.
VMSINSTAL normally deletes all symbols so it doesn't run into
    	conflicts.
