We stayed at the Alden Country Inn in Lyme NH
this week, and I'm pleased to say that the inn
is very nice AND the restaurant is quite good
(open to the public). Lyme is just a few miles
east of the Connecticut River, about 15-20 min.
north of Lebanon.
I didn't pay a lot of attention to the prices,
since we were there on a gift certificate that
included dinner, but the entrees were in the
$16-20 range, I'd say.
Appetizers included grilled Portobello mushroom
and grilled Tiger shrimp over rice with a
ginger-teriyaki sauce (and more). Entrees
included grilled or blackened salmon and maple-
glazed roast duckling, plus other delectables.
Everything cooked just right and presented
nicely.
The restaurant is in a long, "tavern" room
with wooden tables, stenciled and antique-hung
walls. Live folk music on Tues. nights, and
it looked like jazz on Thurs.
I'd recommend it (and the inn itself) if
you're out and about in that area.
