"On The Border" is a fairly new Mexican restaurant in Woburn, MA,
located off of the (I95/128) Washington Street exit and adjacent to
the Red Roof Inn. I tried it out last night and thought it was very
good. I had the spinach quesadilla appetizer along with a main course
of chile rellenos and both were delicious. This is the first place
I've seen where they make the flour tortillas in view with a big
machine that pumps them out like nobody's business. They're absolutely
delicious when you get them freshly made. Also, the complementary chips
and salsa were very good. The decor and atmosphere are also kind of
neat. I'm not sure if this is an emerging franchised chain or if this is
the only one around but someone definitely invested a lot of cash in the
    place.

Have been to "On The Border" at least a half dozen times, we really
like Mexican food. Everything that we have ordered, we try something
different each time, has been really good.

We have always had good service and the atmosphere is really nice. We
actually sat next to the fireplace on a really cold night and it was
    wonderful.

Margaritas are very good with the exception of the "generic" one. We
usually get the BorderRita, frozen with salt, and the Mercedes,
    on-the-rocks, with salt.

Bar has neat chandelier's, beer bottles hanging up-side-down!!!!!

| Hey - and being in Woburn - you wouldn't want to drink the water.

Sounds like they're going for authenticity.

| On the Border is a franchise out of Texas. Regionally (New England area) they are owned by the same company that is the regional franchisee (sp?) of Chile's restuarants. I only happen to know this because my sister works for that outfit. I was at one of the pre-opening practice nights at there early this winter and I was quite impressed. Of course I might have been a bit influence by the fact that everything (except the drinks) was free. If your looking for authentic Mexican this is not it, but you like tex-mex, I highly recommend it. | |||||
