2022.0. "The Colosseum, Salem NH" by WMOIS::CASTIGLIONE () Fri Mar 07 1997 07:19

    Anyone have information on an Italian retaurant called the Colosseum
    located in Salem NH. It is on Rt 28 (385-A Broadway) and I have heard
    that it is top notch.

2022.1Good food, nice atmosphere.XMAILR::BATORFri Mar 07 1997 09:1910
    Yes, I was there recently. Considering it is in a shopping
    center, it is very pricey. The food was quite good and the service
    excellent. Had strolling musicians too. I didn't like the fact
    that all portions of the meal are ala carte. You want "pasta"
    with that. Well, a little sidebread plate filled with it
    will set you back another $5. My wife and I split one.

    Wines were good, too. Nice for a special occasion.

We went there for Valentine's Day on a recommendation from a friend.
As .1 noted, it's in strip mall, so the atmosphere is a bit lacking,
but the food and service were both very good. It was *very* crowded,
however, and we were repeatedly asked to pull our chairs in so they
could bring the dessert cart around the corner. I'd suggest asking
for a table against the wall and not in the main section of the dining
room. When we left the restaurant after dinner at about 10:15 or so, the
line of people waiting to be seated was still rather long. If you're
looking for a very good meal where atmosphere isn't important, I'd
recommend it.
