| I know of it, and have passed it a few times. It used to be Little
Mexico, but I don't know anything about it (changed hands, cooks,
whatever) except whenever we drive by, there's very few cars outside.
Even on a Friday night, which I don't take as a good sign.
Little Mexico always had a wait, most other restaurants in the
area have a wait, and there's no other mexican nearby... so I've
always taken the sparse business that it can't be that good.

| If it's the Korean/Mexican place on 28 down around T-Bones, it's deadly.
Atmosphere is lousy, food was old, dry and not very hot, beer selection was
non-existent.
Besides all that, though... 8-)))

| I couldn't disagree more !!!!!!! I haven't tried the Korean menu but
the Mexican menu is VERY GOOD. I have been there with several DEC
folks, we have tried almost everything on the menu and it has all been
good. In fact, a couple of the folks that I have been there with
recently relocated from CXO to NIO and claim the food is almost as good
here as in Colorado Springs. I would suggest you try, I don't even
think the atmosphere is that bad for that matter.

2019.5 | Nothing special | SMURF::RODGERS | Nothing is written. | Fri Feb 28 1997 11:06 | 31 |
| I tried Los Burros Grande Tuesday night and was not impressed with anything
except the Midolo Negro (not sure if I spelled that right) beer. It was
excellent--nice flavor, medium body.
I'm not sure if this is "the Korean/Mexican place on 28 down around T-Bones". I
didn't see any Korean food on the menu. (How I wish there had been!) This
place is next to Circuit City on the southbound side of 28.
There were almost no cars in the lot when I arrived around 5:30, but I chalked
that up to my being early and it being a Tuesday night. The outside is
depressing, almost run-down. And inside isn't much better. The choices were
very typical of what passes for Mexican cuisine in these parts, with no
specialty dishes (such as you find at La Hacienda or Coyote Cafe).
I ordered Chicken Enchiladas. The chicken was awful -- dried out dark meat with
an almost game-like flavor. They were smothered in a mixture of what I guess
was Monterey Jack and yellow Cheddar cheese, although I wouldn't be surprised if
it was shredded "Mexican cheese" like the kind they sell in the dairy case at
grocery stores. The serving of refried beans was a pile of mush. The only
decent thing was the rice, which had a nice texture and flavor.
To add to my misery, during the meal, the waitress started cleaning something
with Windex in the kitchen area that was behind the wall where we sat. (The
"wall" was really a Mexican blanket.) The fumes of the cleaning fluid did not
mesh well with the food, I can tell you.
It goes without saying that I would not return to this place unless I were in
the mood for a Midolo Negro and couldn't find another Mexican establish that
offers it.

Negra Modelo. A Vienna-style lager, one of the darker-colored ones.
Similar to Maerzen/Oktoberfest style beers, though slightly more hop
bitterness, and a little less malty. Brewed by Modelo in Mexico.
One of my favorite beers, especially with Mexican food.

P.S. I've only ever gotten take-out from Los Burros. It was better
before they moved and became a 'real' restaurant. I agree - the new
location is a pit.
