| A note received from Andy Weiss, State Youth Referee Administer
==============================================
Dear Referee,
A very special opportunity has just been made available to us. We have recently
learned that Sonia Denoncourt will be visiting Massachusetts in the next week.
One of the top ranked FIFA referees in the world, Sonia has refereed World Cup,
Olympics and CONCACAF International games, including the critical US v Norway
semifinal game during the recent Women's Olympic Games in Atlanta. She is a
FIFA Instructor and Assessor, and the first woman ever to referee a men's full
international match. The clinic will take place on:
Saturday, February 22
10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Lincoln-Sudbury High School Auditorium
The high school is located at the intersection of Concord and Lincoln roads in
Sudbury. Scheduled topics include the challenge and motivation of becoming a
FIFA referee; managing coaches and dealing with the pressures of being a woman
referee in a men's game; positioning, fitness and training; developing expertise
in detecting professional fouls and retaliation; and basic approaches for
guaranteeing expertise in refereeing youth games. Clearly there is something
for everybody at this clinic.
Due to the lateness of this announcement, there will be no entry fee for this
event, and pre-registration will not be required. I sincerely hope you can take
advantage of this special opportunity, and look forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely yours,
Andy Weiss, SYRA
