| > Has anyone completed a fully functional Notefile-to-www gateway yet?
What do you mean by "fully"?
See the page:
http://vaxcpu.zko.dec.com:8080/other
for links to a couple of WWW=>Notes gateways. Neither supports
notebooks/seenmaps/etc if that's what you mean by "fully", but
at least one of them is a bi-directional (read and write) gateway.
You'll also find links on the above page to search engines that
have indexed the notesfiles.

4599.4 | Bi-directional was the key... | JULIET::HARRIS_MA | Networks Sales Exec | Mon Jan 27 1997 16:36 | 6 |
| I had missed Matt Thomas' bi-directional gateway. That was exactly what
I was looking for rather than the extracted/archived type lookups.
Thanks,
Mark

4599.4 | Close, but several features (NEXT UNSEEN) missing. | JULIET::HARRIS_MA | Networks Sales Exec | Tue Jan 28 1997 12:41 | 5 |
| The Bi-directional gateway (Matt Thomas) is very close, but it lacks the
equiv of NEXT UNSEEN. I was thinking something like an Alta-Vista Forum
gateway which feels very close to the NOTES concept when you use it.

| Next-Unseen can be done with cookies but seen-maps can get *very* large,
much larger than a single cookie. Then there's the problem of having a
large number of cookies.

4599.6 | Restricted Notes via WWW ? | MROA::HORNIAK | | Thu Apr 10 1997 17:10 | 15 |
| I'm not sure where to look for an answer, but this looks like as good a place
as any.
How does one access a restricted Notes conference when their VMS accounts go
away?
How do you set up membership priviledges for people accessing via the
Internet?
We have several restricted Notes conferences regarding the Sales Incentive
Comp system that must be maintained and accessible to members. Any solution?

| This isn't the right place for this discussion - GALVIA::VAXNOTES_BUGS is.
If the users are using TCP/IP (I think this is what you meant by "Internet")
and have fixed usernames and host names, you can add a member using the
non-obvious syntax node.fac.dec.com::username - but this won't work if the
node is a dynamically-changing numerical IP address. I suggest you raise this
issue to whomever has decided that your VMS systems will go away.
