| 3544.2 | WNT RAS & DS/700 ? | TLAV01::PIPHOB | Mon Jun 02 1997 23:20 | 13 | |
Hi,
We have DS/700 and Modem connected. There are WNT & DIGITAL Unix. We
would like to dial to UNIX and WNT.
We would like to do like a DIGITAL Board with WNT. On UNIX side, we
just setup telnet and can go to unix side and do anythink under UNIX.
Question : Under WNT side, We would like to connect drive from remote
user. How to config RAS and DS/700?
Thanks
Piphob S.

| 3544.3 | W95 & WNT Clients - Standard PPP setup | CSC32::R_BUCK | Authenticated and assimilated | Thu Jun 05 1997 19:15 | 20 |
I *think* I understand the question. For current versions of DNAS, a
RAS connection is simply configured the same as any other PPP client.
Normally you will assign an IP address to the port.
Specific to Windows NT is that you do not directly logon to a Windows
NT domain. All you can do is establish a PPP pipe and run TCP/IP over
it. By configuring a WINS server, or having an LMHOSTS file on the WNT
client, you should be able to "Find" other systems once connected and
then map any share that is being offered.
Make sure the RAS settings for security is "Accept any authentication
including clear text" If you are using any sort of authentication at
the PPP level, (Radius, Kerberos, SecurID, or Local), make sure that
the Domain box on the WNT dial-up screen is blank. WNT send a string
of domain\Username if there is any value in the Domain box. This
will cause an authentication failure.
Hope this helps,
