3529.0. "LAT Services Disappearing" by CSC32::L_DEGROFF () Tue May 13 1997 11:21
Have a customer who says that his LAT services offered by several UNIX
hosts running a third-party LAT called TSSNET are being purged and
re-cached by his DECserver 200s, 300s, and DECMUX 300s on a
minute-by-minute basis. One minute, a service will show up if the SHOW
SERVICES command is used and the next minute it will be gone. Then,
it will show up again a minute later.
The DS300 are running v2.2 and the DS200s are running v3.3. The server
counters showed some send and receive failures, but not in significant
numbers to be a factor. One DS200 was seeing in excess of 20
Unrecognized Frame destination, but the DS300s had none. Show Server
Status screens indicated current nodes and services of less than 20
with the maximum set at 200.

| What is the rating sent by these problem nodes?
zero?
I seem to recall that we discussed and/or recommended that a rating of zero
would mean that the system was shutdown. I'm not sure what was specifically
recommended, but one choice would be to remove the system from the list
of services since its shutdown.
