| RE: .0
Looks like a disagreement over who does character echoinh; the telnet client
or the telnet server -- in this case both are doing it.

Dave

| Looking at the DS700 telnet listener definition there doesn't appear to
be any control on character echoing?
Local Echo is disabled on the VTStar telnet client? I'm not sure how to
progress this, can you give me a more detailed explanation.

I recall that echoing is negotiated between the telnet client and telnet
server.

| So what can I do to fix the problem?

| If the VTStar Telnet Client is not set to local echo and the DECserver
700 ports are set to remote echo I assume this is correct?
If I issue a show port telnet client I get the following:
Port 3
Profile: Character
Echo: Remote Newline From Term: <CR>
Toggle Echo: ^E Newline From Host: <CRLF>
Binary: Disabled Newline To Term: <CRLF>
Xmit Char Size: 8 Newline To Host: <CRLF>
Rcv Char Size: 8 Input Flow Control: Enabled
Signal Req: Enabled Output Flow Control: Enabled
IP: +s +f ^Y Local Msg Verify: Enabled
SYNCH: +s -f ^X Local Switch Recog: Enabled
AYT: -s -f ^T Quote: None
AO: -s +f ^O
EOR: -s -f None
BRK: -s -f None
I'm not sure of the relevance of the Telnet Client paramaters on the
DECserver ports when I'm telnetting from VTstar (a Telnet client) onto
a DECserver offering a telnet listener?
Anybody got any more ideas or fixes?
Thanks Al
