3461.0. "BREAK duration on 90TL and 90M terminal servers." by BASEX::EISENBRAUN (John Eisenbraun) Mon Mar 10 1997 11:26

    Another "BREAK" question. A customer wants to use 90TL and 90M
    terminal servers to talk to GE Series 90 programmable controllers (shop
    floor control devices) using reverse LAT. These devices require that
    you send them a "LONG BREAK" to get their attention. A "LONG BREAK" is
    defined by the manufacturer as "at least 3 character times of 'space'
    at the current baud rate". Can this BREAK be sent from the 90TL and
    90M terminal servers? (The break would actually be generated from an
    OpenVMS system sending a "BREAK".)

    If so, what version of software is required and what software? (A
    previous note seemed to indicate that NAS software was required for
    this functionality).

3461.1Anybody home?BASEX::EISENBRAUNJohn EisenbraunTue Mar 11 1997 12:043
    Anybody know the answer to questions in -.1? I've looked everywhere I
    can think of and can't find the information documented. The customer
    is waiting for an answer...
3461.2BREAK duration is 275 millisecondsIROCZ::RRICHARDTue Mar 11 1997 12:375

  The duration of the break is hardcoded to 275 milliseconds.

3461.3Thanks - looks like it should work.BASEX::EISENBRAUNJohn EisenbraunTue Mar 11 1997 16:245

    Thank you very much, so if my math is correct, the break should be
    longer than 3 character times down to 110 baud (assuming 10 bits
    per character).
