Hi, we are attempting to use a DS700 with telnet protocol for binary data acquisition throught rs-232 line communication. On one port of this terminal server, configured with an TCP/IP address, is defined a telnet listener to allow connections via telnet. We built a software process running on a VAX host that connects to the terminal server port via telnet, but the process cannot read all the stream sent through the rs-232 line. The problem is that some characters as <FF> or 00 are filtered by DS700 with unusable acquisition sequence. The port configuration is: Flow Control: DSR Signal Control:Enabled Default Protocol:Telnet Input speed:19200 Outputspeed:19200 Type: Soft Enabled characteristics: Output flow control,Input flow control. Anyone have made a similar operation with a DS700? Is there an alternative solution to the DS700 terminal server for binary data acquisition through a rs-232 line using as protocol TCP/IP? Thanks in advance Gabriele

RE: .0 Which DECserver? How much RAM? If you can run DNAS, we now support "raw" TCP listeners. This is totally binary transparent, and does not need a Telnet application at the VAX, just basic socket I/O calls. This is a better way to go for data acquisition. Regards, Dave |
