552.0. "You need more visibility on the external Digital web site" by twick.nio.dec.com::PETTENGILL (mulp) Fri May 23 1997 00:20

You guys have one of the best web sites internally of any that I've
seen, its informatative and up to date and you promote your wares.

I saw a note in one of the news groups from someone who wanted a RADIUS
server for VMS. I assumed that he wanted a free one since I was well
aware of the one that you provide, but I sent him a message pointing
to the information on the external web site just in case.

I was surprised at how hard it was to find the "SPD" for DRAS, and wondered
if my assumption was wrong.

He replied with a "thank you, I'll look into DRAS. I really would prefer
one that is supported by a vendor rather than having to do it myself."

I gather that even your product manager may not have much direct input
into what goes on the external web site or how its organized, but you
might want to see if he, or someone in your management chain can bring
some heat on someone. I think that your terminal server hardware, remote
access firmware, and host software deserve a set of pages that lays out
the solutions that you offer. Especially with the integrate modems and
the upcoming software/firmware releases.

I also saw a note from someone trying to get PPP to work on a DS90M.
I assumed that since he was asking about it that he had the right version
of firmware, but its possible that he didn't. We stopped exchanging
messages since he was heading off to DECUS, so I'm not exactly what
the problem was; I suggested that he look for someone representing you guys
since I'm sure that you would help him out. But again, my guess is that
this might be a problem where you would do a much better job of getting
the information out if you were defining the content on the external web.

552.1PPP HELP----call support centerCSC32::D_SHAVEYTue May 27 1997 10:4010
I am sure Dave Nelson or someone else will reply to the first of your
message. If your customer has a valid access #, have him call the
1-800-354-9000 phone number and ask for the NSU/Networks team. We will
be more than happy to assist on getting PPP to work on his DECserver
    90M.
