546.0. "Ascend MAX 4000 & SecurID. Any one got it running?" by SWAM1::DUTTA_VE (clintonism=Socialism) Wed May 14 1997 18:52
Has anyone successfully configured an Ascend MAX 4000 to use DRAS V1.1
to authenticate users via SecurID? The server is running on an Alpha VMS
system and I can see the data exchange between the Ascend NAS and the VMS
system as well as the data exchange between the VMS system the ACE server
via a network sniffer.
While other forms of authentication work (e.g., password in DRAS, or
host-based password), SecurID does not. The result on the MAX 4000 when
SecurID is used is that a second prompt, containing garbage characters,
appears. When the next passcode is entered at that prompt the MAX then
reports Access Denied and prompts with "Enter the Passcode: ". This loop
repeats indefinitely no matter what is entered at the prompt.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

| We recently found a small problem with the SECURID module that
manifests itself as a problem with the prompt strings. The fix is
being tested and should be in the field test update code due out
shortly.
