Just to let you know, trouble adding useraccounts from ClearVISN ASM DNAS ver 2.0 ClearVISN Access Server Manager ver 1.0 WIN95 A Customer is using ASM to add useraccounts to a DECserver 90M. From the Configuration TAB he picks number 5. The Server Security dialog box shows up and from here he specifies Local as the Security Method. He now add a useraccount to the DECserver and afterwards push the Write button to modify the configuration of the DECserver with new values. When one gets to add useraccount number 34 ,about, inclusive passwords etc. the software turns up with an error-information box: -------------------------------------------------------------------- ERROR The application's network receive buffer has been exceeded before expected data received. Contact Digital Equipment Corporation Task execution will be terminated. ------------------------------------------------------------------ From the telnet-information window, one can see it stops at --> reading user accounts ... I have reproduced the limit at my site. Are we missing something ? Is there anyway to get around the failure ?. Have told the customer how to add useraccounts from the DECserver Console but that is not very smart !! /Ellen [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

524.1 | Error is really "out of NVRAM space"? | IROCZ::D_NELSON | Dave Nelson LKG1-3/A11 226-5358 | Mon Mar 10 1997 11:07 | 13 |
RE: .0 > When one gets to add useraccount number 34 ,about, inclusive passwords > etc. Do you mean to say that the customer has sucessfully added 33 users and is attempting to add the 34th? The number of UserAccounts that can be stored in NVRAM is limited. Depending on the number of characters in the names and passwords, you might expect to get about 30. Regards, Dave

There is a new version of ASM: V2.1a. It is available on the Web at: http://www.networks.digital.com:80/dr/hubs/servers/software/servr-mn.html With V2.1a I was able to add up to 40 local user accounts (I didn't try to add any more). Keep in mind that there is a limited amount of storage available on DECservers for local user accounts. The local user accounts were designed to perhaps support a small office. -Dan Pyrik
