A customer has trouble configurating WAN restoral, and thats why I have set up a test.That is not working either. The Modem is a Microcom DeskPorte FAST + and the switches is set up for synchronous operation as described in the manual. Both of the RouteAbouts EW has been upgraded to ver. 2-03. They both have been set up to bridging and NOT routing. Is that posible ? To set up a backup circuit for bridging ? I see absolutely nothing in the event logger on BONDO after els config>disp sub v25b all els config>disp sub s1 all els config>disp sub gw.43 all and * T 2 and after I have taken down the primary circuit. Shouldn't I even though I have only been able to get hold on one modem in the test ? What am I doing wrong ?? Any help to get me going would be very much appreciated. /Ellen BONDO 90EW 193.100.10.100 --------+-----------------+--- | | | | Primary \ Secondary\Modem Bridging / | | --------+----------------- ELLEN 90EW 193.100.10.1 BONDO CONFIG: ------------------ Protocol name or number [IP]? hst TCP/IP-Host Services user configuration TCP/IP-Host config>set ip IP-Host address [0.0.0.0]? 193.100.10.100 Address mask [255.255.255.0]? Hi Ellen, > They both have been set up to bridging and NOT routing. Is that posible ? > To set up a backup circuit for bridging ? Should be OK, we have done some testing with bridging. I'm not familiar with TCP/IP-Host Services configuration - someone else might like to comment on that, But I think you have a more basic problem if your modem won't dial when you take the primary down. Y ou should be able to get the outgoing modem to at least dial properly, even though there is nothing connected remotely. Looking at your device config for BONDO, unless I've missed something, you don't show the step: V.25bis Config> set local Local network address name []? BONDO although this may not be your problem. Could you please set up, in your event logger: els config>disp sub wrs all in addition to the other ones you mention, and then try again to bring the primary down whilst you have the events displayed with *T 2. If you can then post the event log here (or mail it to me if you like) I will try to find out why you aren't getting your modem to dial. Good luck! Brian

Brian, The same result as in 840.4 >it looks to me as if the V.25 bis interface is failing selftest because > the modem signals aren't being seen as "ON": > > SL.007: st slftst nt 2 int V.25/0 > SL.021: slf tst fl bcs of mdm sts, CTS = OFF, DSR = OFF, DCD = OFF, nt > 2 int I have tried to set up the modem as descripted in http://routeabout.zko.dec.com/WAN/v25bis/v25bis.htm page 11 and 12. I set the switches with no. 4 up and enter the following command -ATY0@B1&S1\D4:T15=155%G1%B28800M0*W but when I hit return the terminal window shows -ERROR or -ATY0@B1&S1\D4:T15=155%G1%B28800M0&W-ERROR When I do every single command in turn it shows that almost all the command shows errors. ATY0-OK, AT&S1-OK, AT\D4-ERROR, AT:T15=155-ERROR, AT%G1-ERROR, AT%B28800-ERROR, ATM0-OK I have tried it several times, cleared the config AT&F turned the modem off and then on again, but still the same. I'm guessing you have to enter that whole AT string at once, because some part of it may switch you to V.25bis mode, sync operation, etc... Are you carefully following the other directions for that modem (the switch pack settings before and after the AT command)? Are you sure you've got a "Microcom - Deskporte FAST with V.34"? Some manufacturers have similar models with and without V.25bis.
916.4 | Firmware of the modem is prob. outdated | NNTPD::"[email protected]" | Ellen Syberg | Wed May 28 1997 12:33 | 13 |
Thanks a lot for your reply, you gave me the right hint. The modem Microcom DeskPorte FAST + does support v25bis syncronous etc., but it is only the name of the modem and the manuals that support V.34 standard and probally not the firmware in the modem. The last page of the manual tells me how to get ITU-T Upgrade. The modem is upgradeble from the V.fast protocol to the V.34 standard it says. I suppose that's what's wrong because I have the manual, all the AT commands are mentioned in it, and I did try the AT command in one string. Thanks Ellen [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
