| Yes there is a way of temporarily disabling the generation of test
packets generated by VNswitch Ethernet ports. I say "temporarily"
because the configuration change is not saved in NVRAM and will be lost
once the module is restarted.
Here is how to disable the test packets.
1. From the Config> submenu (talk 6), type dvt.
2. At the PE2k_DVT> prompt, type "ed patch.testpacket".
You will get a screen that looks like the following:
testpacket 0x01
3. To disable test packet generation, type 0x00 and then hit <RETURN>.
To reenable test packet generation, type 0x01 (or any number greater
than 0) and hit <RETURN>
4. To exit this screen, simply type "q".
5. To exit the DVT submenu, type "exit".
If you reset/restart the module you will have to re-enter these
commands to disable test packet generation.
As always, be very careful when doing anything in the DVT submenu. It
is not intended for customer use and you could seriously impact the
behavior/performance of the module if you do the wrong thing.

When rate limiting was enabled, was it enabled for the box and
separately for the broadcast address? Was it enable from the CLI
or MCM? If from the CLI, from the monitor or config process?
re: .1
Remind the customer that DVT commands are unsupported, undocumented
and may change without notice with future versions of the software.

| Rich,
Thanks for the info.
Hugh,
I enabled it using MCM in the "Switch Configuration" screen. It was the only
option I changed. Also, I doubt the customer will ever use debug mode again
after they finish doing tests of the switch.
Thanks,
Brad
