VNswitch 900 Series Modules
Version V1.5.1
Release Note Addendum
April 1997

This document includes information describing the changes included in
the V1.5.1 release of the VNswitch firmware image. Before upgrading
your VNswitch 900 module, please read the information below, as well
as the product
s V1.5 Release Notes and the addendum to the V1.5 Release Notes.

The V1.5.1 firmware release is a maintenance update to the V1.5
firmware image for the VNswitch 900EE, VNswitch 900EX, and VNswitch
900EF. There is no new functionality included in this release,
however, Digital recommends that you upgrade all of your VNswitch 900
modules with this firmware image since it does correct several
problems that you may incur in your network.

To support this VNswitch firmware release, the DEChub 900 MultiSwitch
Agent Manager (MAM) firmware MUST be at release level V5.1 and the
clearVISN software MUST be at release level V1.1a.

This release of the VNswitch 900 firmware resolves the following
problems:

- Under certain conditions, when performing a sequence of LAN
Interconnect operations on VNswitch modules, the module will crash
with an error log message of the form:

Bus error at address 0x9; Next Instr 0x...T

- The VNswitch 900EX module will indicate false errors during power-up
  self test.

- A problem which was introduced with firmware version V1.5 where addresses
which have been manually entered (static addresses) will not be
learned by the switch causing packets with those addresses to be flooded
  to all forwarding ports.

- Under certain conditions, with heavy VNbus traffic, packets will be
incorrectly handled causing the module to crash.
