833.0. "The Cost of a Link in IS-IS is steady at 1024." by OSLLAV::BJORN (Bjrn Olav Haugom) Fri Apr 04 1997 10:46

I have some questions about the DECnet/OSI implementation in the Routeabout
Access EW.

The customer has a network of L1 routers connected with redundant links,
using 5 Routeabout Access EW and a number of Marconi SDH ADM/DXC type
multiplexers with built-in OSI Routers. They are all running L1 IS-IS.

When monitoring the links to the other routers, they see a lot of links with
Cost going from 60 to 1024 to some of these Marconi systems, and the Cost is
never reduced. They have to restart the router. On the Marconi routers all
looks normal, no link problems, and the cost stays at 60.

They are running V1.002 on som of the routers, and they are asking me if this
behaviour has been addressed in any of the newer versions.

Can anyone give me an answer if this is a known problem, and if there is a fix,
or give me a pointer to where I can find information about bugs and fixes.

I also want to know if there is any method of listing the possible links
that the router is maintaining, the Link State Tree.

Well, you can poke around at the release notes at

        http://routeabout.zko.dec.com/AW90

But the information is somewhat incomplete for this type of query.
V1.0.002 (if that's what they have) was released 18 months ago, and
there have been two major releases since then.
