760.0. "VNswitch V2 routing questions..." by CSC32::B_GOODWIN (Brad Goodwin - NSIS) Mon Feb 17 1997 15:06
    My customer is a very large telco. They are in the process of
    redesigning their shared lans to switched lans and are looking at
    VNswitch technology. The like the idea of having VLANs/VSDs to separate
    their traffic. But, they are a very large DECnet IV/V user also. We
    know the the V2 code for VNswitch will have IP router capability.
    Question is, will the V2 code for VNswitch be like the V2 code for
    DECswitch900ee/ef? If I set up a VI to several interfaces in the
    VNswitch to route IP for various subnets to other VI's in the VNswitch,
    will I still have bridged DECnet to all ports on the VNSwitch. Or will
    I have to setup VI's with VLANs/VSD tagging in which case, I won't be
    able to bridge the DECnet traffic to all ports and will have to use an
    external router, ie DECnis, to route the DECnet traffic.

    Thanks,
    Brad
