Will the Routeabout products be able to communicate with the Wanrouter90 using leased line? I can not find support for either HDLC nor DDCMP, but I see that it supports PPP, so that may work. Any comments on this? Any interoperability issues to look for? Bjrn Olav Haugom NPB Norway

Yes both the WR90 and the RoutAbout products support PPP, so in theory you can connect the two. However the PPP implementation on the WR90 is rather limited, it was intended for use only with DECNIS - primarily Frame Relay interconnection. Consequently it does operate the DECnet PhaseIV NCP very well. Provided you only want IP or are using IP & OSI (I-IS-IS), there should not be a problem; you won't be able to get DECnet (PhaseIV) to work (other than via OSI) between WR90 and RA. Mail/phone me if you want all the sordid details, Mark |
