748.0. "V2 documentation to be copied?" by OSLLAV::BJORN (Bjrn Olav Haugom) Sun Feb 09 1997 12:53

Where do I get copies of the V2 Documentation? I know where the WEB-
documentation is, but I need to copy the whole books onto my portable
PC for more speedy access when I am out of the office. What do I need
to do to quickly save the WEB-documentation on

	http://routeabout.mko.dec.com/~guisso/books/

And from the router engineering home page the V2 doc is not made active
available from that page.

    Bjorn,

If you have a CD player on your portable, the docset is provided in
DynaText format for on-line use with the product. This is the
official on-line format. You will find them on the Network
Product Information Library CD, December 1996 (Part No AG-QQWBD-BE).

The Web files are not available as a set, and they may not
transport too well because of the internal hotspots etc.

What we could do for you is to build .PDF versions of the manuals from
the Postscript files and make those available - you'll need the Adobe
    Acrobat reader.

Give us a little time to build the PDF files and I'll create a web
page for you to download the files. When it is ready I'll post the URL
    here.

Please note that this is being done as a favour to you. The PDF files
are NOT supported for customer use (i.e. Digital Internal Use only).

I will also check out why the V2 docs are not available from the router
    engineering home page.

748.2PDF files are most appreciatedOSLLAV::BJORNBjrn Olav HaugomMon Feb 10 1997 15:4413
I appreciate your response.

I did not know about the new CD, so that could be one option.

However, as my request is pinpointing a need for internal access to
documentation needed to our work out there, I would like to see a pointer
to PDF files, as this is the way I can have it on-line or print out the
documentation (my choice). Postscript is too heavy, and requires me to print
out (I have not seen any good postscript viewers).

Please post the URL to the PDF files when ready.

748.3URL for PDF filesKEEF::PETERSTue Feb 11 1997 08:2517
I have built a web page for you to download zipped copies of the .PDF
    files for the documentation set.

It also has details for the DynaText CD, a pointer to Adobe's site for
Acrobat, and a pointer to the Digital Internal copy of the html format
    manuals.

The URL for this page is:

    	http://www-engreo.reo.dec.com/idcukw3/drs20doc/index.htm

Please let me know if you have any difficulty using this site, or if
you have any other comments you want to make about the documentation.

    Thank you

I have now added a .ZIP file containing the HTML files for the
documentation. You can download this for local installation.

    Check out:

Can someone please confirm to me that it downloads and expands
    correctly? Thanks.
