| attempting to upgrade a Routeabout 90EW from V1.0.0 to V2.01 and I'm
getting error BUGHLT +7 Watchdog timer expired ?
I am using the Netrider loader and don't have the option of a Digital
Unix tftp in my garage. YET !
I will attempt a incremental upgrade tonight.

| Ok so when does the box report the BUGHLT?. Is it the same as reported in
.0?. That problem was caused by a known bug in OVMS UCX TFTP (see
alesewhere in here). Any chance the same bug exists in Netrider?. What is
"the Netrider loader"?.

| mark,
The Netrider loader is a program that the
NetRider folks wrote in LKG (I think)... it is a TFTP/BOOTp
host that runs under Win3.1/95/NT and uses the TCPIP stack
that you have on the machine.
It is not a VMS based application so I am not sure if
it would suffer from the same problems as the OVMS loaders.
If you like a copy of the loader software it is available on
a server in LKG and I can get you a pointer.

| Thanks for the update. I'm not that intersted in Netrider, I was just
wondering if it suffered from the same problem as VMS - sounds unlikely.
Presumably people have used Netrider to upgrade RouteAbout's and have not
seen any problems?.

| Are you sure it was V1.0.0? That was not (supposed) to be a released
version. The actual SSB release was V1.0.2
I just tested an EW, upgrading from V1.0.2 to V2.0.1, with no problems.
It may indeed be a problem caused by the netrider loader, or something
else external. You might try upgrading from the BOOT PROM, that might
get you going, at least. From the ">" prompt after powerup, use the BM
command to do a manual TFTP upgrade.

I have used the netrider Loader many times in my
office w/ no problems doing and upgrade (and in
some cases downgrades).... one thing that I have noticed
is that in some locations where I have tried to use
the Loader it did not function well because of ill
behaved bootp servers on the LAN... both of the
servers answer the requests.
In some cases the RouteAbout will begin to load
code and then it seems to stall. In the end the
upgraded fails because the transfer never completes.
I have noted this in some offices in LKG... the solution
was to put the host PC on a private LAN with the RouteAbout.
Not exactly the most convenient way of doing it, but one
that seemed to work.
