10016.0. "netconfig fails on deconfig of fddi interface." by CSC32::A_LICAUSE () Mon Jun 02 1997 15:35

Customer was tyring to deconfigure an FDDI interface usint the GUI
netconfig on his V4.0b dunix system and it blew up on exit with the
    following error:

invalid keyed list format or inconsistent field name scoping: no value
associated with field "name " "set name [keylget delentry]"

He did not give the FDDI interface a seperate host name.

Any one ever see this reported before? Should this GUI be avoided?

I understand it is very buggy?

I checked the qar database on Gorge, nothing similar - open a new one -
no app should ever "blow up". I'd include how this interface was setup.

I don't know where you got that impression, there are some open qars
against it but only one seemed critical.

From the people that take most of the customer calls at the CSC!

If anyone is in a position to hear complaints, they are. I suspect
that, like the both customers that I spoke with yesterday, as long as
there is a work around line netsetup or editing rc.config by hand
they not as concerned, but lets hope that all of the bugs are worked
    out before they retire netsetup.

And please don't turn rc.config into an executable or something that
a customer cannot fix when the GUI's fail. I'd hate to think the kind
of reaction we'd get if that happened!

Well if they're getting calls about problems, they aren't entering
qars to track them. There are only 8 open qars in the database,
and a handfull more answered/acknowledged. I'm sure the nice people
in UNX would love to hear about enhancements to make it better too,
they always listen to my "suggestion" qars.

I asked that you enter a qar because Engineering doesn't always read
this notes file and I didn't want your bug to fall through the cracks
(BTW, I don't work on the netconfig component).

> And please don't turn rc.config into an executable

Why would we change /etc/rc.config? Really...
