9955.0. "List of log messages ?" by TAMIR::LANDSBERG (Internets success will also be its downfall) Tue May 27 1997 07:01
Hi,
We have a customer connecting their system to a HP monitoring system,
probably Openview. The monitoring software checks for log files and
acts accordingly. They asked us what type of error messages we produce
so they can have their monitoring system monitor DEC UNIX systems.
I referred them to syslog and the log files in /usr/adm/syslog.dated.
But they want to know the details and type of messages received. I
could not find any reference to a list of log messages. Attached is the
mail received from the customer. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

In order to use the logfiles we talked about, I have to know the
specific text of the messages.
For example, how do messages about full kernel tables look like, how do
messages about swap space look like, and so on.
I would be happy if you could send me a list of important messages who
may appear in the logfiles.
Thanks,
